How your commission is worked out

Every product has a pool. You split it between the discount your customer gets and the commission you keep — a bigger discount means a smaller commission, and the total never changes.

Step by step

  1. Open Earnings in your dashboard

Every referred order appears here with the order number, what it was worth, and what you earned on it.

  2. Read the status on each row

Pending window means the order has not yet been delivered, or the returns window has not closed. Eligible means it has, and the amount is now claimable. Approved means the store has confirmed it. Paid is done. Void means the order was cancelled or refunded, so the commission was withdrawn.

  3. Check the payout period

Commissions are grouped by the month the order was delivered, and each period pays out on the 15th of the following month. Your dashboard shows the date in plain words rather than making you work it out.

The pool

Each product carries a single number the store is willing to give away on a partner sale — the pool. You decide how it is split. Offer your audience a bigger discount and you keep less; offer a smaller one and you keep more. What the store spends is the same either way, which is why you are free to choose.

Every line pays from its own pool

A basket with several products is not paid at one blended rate. Each line earns from that product’s own pool, so a 30% pool product and a 20% pool product in the same order pay differently and correctly. This is also why a store-wide code is measured against the smallest pool it covers — a discount that is comfortable on one product could otherwise breach the floor on another.

The minimum you keep

You cannot give the entire pool away. A floor guarantees you keep some commission on every sale, which stops a single partner running a store-wide sale on their own authority and undercutting everyone else.

Common questions

Why is my commission “pending” when the customer has already paid?

Because the sale is not final until the goods arrive and the returns window closes. Paying before that would mean clawing money back from you whenever an order came back, which is worse for everyone.

An order was refunded. What happens to my commission?

It is withdrawn and shows as void. This is true even if it had already been approved — a refunded order is not a sale.

The rate on my commission row does not match my code’s discount.

The rate shown is the effective rate that actually produced the amount, blended across a mixed basket. It is derived from what you earned rather than copied from a headline number, so it will not always be a round figure.

Can I earn commission on my own purchase?

No. An order placed with the email on your partner account goes through normally, but pays no commission.

What is a pool?

The single number a product carries for partner activity. You split it between the discount your customer gets and the commission you keep, so a bigger discount means a smaller commission and the store’s cost stays the same either way.

Why do two products in the same order pay different rates?

Because each has its own pool. A 30%-pool product and a 20%-pool product in one basket pay differently and correctly; one blended rate would overpay on the cheaper pool and underpay on the richer one.

What do the statuses mean?

Pending window: not yet delivered, or the returns window is still open. Eligible: claimable. Approved: the store has confirmed it. Paid: sent. Void: the order was cancelled or refunded, so the commission was withdrawn.

What happens to my commission if the customer cancels?

It is withdrawn and shows as void, with the order number so you can see which one. A cancelled order is not a sale.
