Creating your own discount codes

You choose how much of a product’s pool to give away as a customer discount. Whatever you do not give away is your commission, and you must always keep some.

Step by step

  1. Open Codes in your dashboard

You may be asked to complete your profile details first. A code creates a liability the moment someone uses it, so we want to know who we are dealing with before one exists.

  2. Choose store-wide or a single product

A store-wide code works on anything. A product code discounts only the product you pick — useful when you are talking about one item and want a sharper offer on it without discounting the whole catalogue.

  3. Pick your discount

This is the customer’s share of the pool. Offer more and you convert more but keep less per sale; offer less and you keep more. The screen tells you the maximum you are allowed to give away.

  4. Choose a code people can actually type

Letters and numbers only. It must not clash with an existing code, including the store’s own promotions. Short and memorable beats clever, especially if you will say it aloud in a video.

Why a store-wide code is measured against your smallest pool

Pools differ per product. A discount that leaves you a healthy commission on a 30% pool product could leave nothing at all on a 20% one, so a store-wide code is validated against the smallest pool it covers. If that limit is lower than you want, the answer is usually a product-specific code for the item you are actually promoting.

You cannot give the whole pool away

A floor guarantees you keep some commission on every sale. It exists so no single partner can run what amounts to a store-wide sale on their own authority, which would undercut every other partner and make the brand’s pricing look arbitrary.

Your discount is snapshotted

The split is recorded on the code when you create it. If the store later changes a product’s pool, codes already circulating keep paying what they promised. You will not find your earnings quietly reduced on a code you have already promoted.

Common questions

It says my code is already taken.

Codes are unique across the whole store, including the shop’s own promotions and other partners’ codes. Try a variation with your name or handle in it.

Why can I not create a code yet?

Your account details need completing first. A code is where a partner starts creating a liability for the store, so it is gated behind knowing who you are.

Why will it not let me offer the discount I want?

You would be left below the minimum commission you must keep. The screen shows the largest discount you can offer on that product.

Does a product code stop me earning on other things in the basket?

No. The discount applies only to its product, but you still earn on every other eligible item in the same order.

How many codes can I have?

Enough for normal use. There is a cap on how many you can create in a short period, purely to stop automated bulk creation.
