How to use it
- Mix 1 scoop with 250 ml of cold water.
- Drink it 30–45 minutes before your first working set, so the caffeine peaks during your heaviest work rather than your warm-up.
- New to stimulants, or under about 60 kg? Start with half a scoop and see how you respond before going higher.
- Do not exceed 2 scoops (600 mg of caffeine) in a day.
- Stop at least 6 hours before bed. A 2013 trial found 400 mg taken six hours before bedtime still measurably disrupted sleep.
Who it suits
- People training early in the morning or straight after work, who genuinely struggle to get started
- Lifters at roughly 70–90 kg, for whom a 300 mg scoop lands mid-range on the ISSN’s 3–6 mg/kg guidance
- Anyone who already has protein and creatine in place and wants to improve session quality
Who should skip it
- Anyone training in the evening. Caffeine’s half-life means an evening scoop follows you to bed, and sleep is where training adaptation actually happens
- People sensitive to stimulants, or with an anxiety disorder that caffeine aggravates
- Anyone with a heart condition or high blood pressure, or who is pregnant or breastfeeding, without medical advice
- Under-18s
- Anyone already drinking three or four coffees a day — the combined total is higher than most people expect
- People hoping it will substitute for sleep. It postpones tiredness, it does not remove it
Common questions
How long before training should I take it?
30–45 minutes before your first working set. Blood caffeine generally peaks 45–60 minutes after ingestion, and the ISSN position stand notes 60 minutes pre-exercise as the most common timing in research.
Why does it make me tingle?
That is paraesthesia from the beta-alanine, and it is harmless. It is not a sign the product is working — beta-alanine improves performance by raising muscle carnosine over weeks of daily use, not through anything that happens in the twenty minutes after a scoop.
Is 300 mg of caffeine a lot?
It depends on your bodyweight. The ISSN reports benefits at 3–6 mg per kg. A full scoop is about 3.5 mg/kg for an 85 kg lifter, 4.3 mg/kg at 70 kg, and 6 mg/kg at 50 kg — the top of the range. Dose to your bodyweight rather than to the scoop.
Does the beta-alanine in this actually work?
Only if you take it daily. The ISSN position stand found 4–6 g a day for at least 2–4 weeks raises muscle carnosine enough to improve performance. A single 3.2 g dose taken three times a week before training does not accumulate to that, so treat the beta-alanine here as a bonus rather than the reason to buy.
How do I avoid a crash?
Eat a real meal one to two hours before training, take the smallest dose that works for you, drink water through the session, and avoid using it to cover for short sleep. Most crashes are sleep debt becoming noticeable again rather than the supplement itself.
